AEC Plenary calls for referendum arrangements to be completed
Assessment and Evaluation Commission for the Comprehensive Peace Agreement held its meeting in Khartoum yesterday calling for consideration of the election appeals and to reach an agreement on the south/south Kordofan parliamentary seats . Head of the Commission, Sir Derek Plumbly acknowledged the peaceful process during the election, saying that there were many lessons learnt, which benefit the referendum. The British Envoy discusses the referendum and the elections
NCP Representative for Foreign Affairs, Mustafa Osman Ismael discussed with the British Envoy to Sudan, Michael O’Neill the elections and the peaceful atmosphere during this process. CPA partners agree on governmental seats
NCP and SPLM have agreed to allocate 28% of parliamentary seats to South Sudan. Speaking to Alakhbar newspaper, Deng Alor Kuol stated that the CPA partners are set to meet next week to discuss the ministerial positions saying that there was not yet any talks on the ministry of Foreign Affairs appointment , but both parties have showed their interest in it. The current government will be dissolved tomorrow
Alahdath newspaper reported that a reliable source stated that the elected president , Omer Al-Bashir is set to dissolve the government tomorrow and appointed ministers managers to rule the country until a new office is formed. The newspaper reported that there was a suggestion to task Minni Minawi and Musa Mohammed Ahmed (the presidential advisers) to form the new government for this period. Meanwhile, NCP has discussed a proposal of engaging other political figures on the elected government; stating the National Consensus Force seats in the parliament would remain the same based on the Cairo agreement. Thabo Mbeki calls for resolving Darfur conflict before the referendum
The Head of African Union High Panel, Thabo Mbeki had acknowledged the CPA partners efforts to implement the agreement and call for collaboration to conduct the referendum. Thabo added that arrangements for the referendum should speed up and stressed on the public education for this process. Border Demarcation Committee resumes its activities
The Border Demarcation Committee resumed its process yesterday in the areas between Sannar in Blue Nile and Upper Nile States as a starting point. Head of the Committee , Abdallah Al Sadig revealed that his team have collected the information and mapped the border to start the actual implementation on the ground. Al – Sadig added that the committee has searched for historical documents from UK, Egypt and Sudanese institutes. In response to a question on the process delay, he stated that there were technical mistakes , which have no relation with the political situation, but still there are five points that need to be resolved at the presidential level. Al-Bashir wins the election and has 68% of votes cast

The National Electoral Commission has announced Omer Al-Bashir as the winner for the presidential elections with Yasser Arman coming second with 21% from votes cast . Head of the National Electoral Commission , Abel Alier revealed that 10,114,310 votes were cast in total. Al-Bashir addressed a NCP rally yesterday saying that his party won the election but should prepare for the battle for unity. He added that western countries should lift internet sanctions that aim to create chaos similar to Iran by mobilising the community. ( All Newspapers ) [Read more →]

The elections result will be announced in the coming 48 hours
National Electoral Commission revealed that the final election result will be announced within 48 hours, subject to remaining information from the Equatorial and the Unity States, which was anticipated to finish soon. Head of the Technical Committee for NEC, Al Hadi Mohamed Ahmed said that the state committees were not authorize to announce the results. NEC : “election’s result will be announced after all the appeals are considered”
The National Electoral Commission revealed that 95% of the election results in North Sudan have been completed, but there were still some delays at legislative and executive levels in some states. Head of the Technical Committee for NEC, Al Hadi Mohamed Ahmed stated to the press that the result was expected to be finalised today.
