Pagn Amum on SPLM: Party has overcome internal disputes over the election
SPLM Secretary General, Pagan Amum revealed that his party held a political meeting in Juba yesterday to evaluate the election and discuss the current situation. He also told reporters that the SPLM had called upon the National Electoral Commission to stop any attempt at fraud and he criticised the military intention in Blue Nile State. Amumsaid that the SPLM had not discussed forming a new government or election results with the NCP. NEC reveal that counting has not yet finish in Blue Nile State
The National Electoral Commission has sent a delegation to the Blue Nile State to control the situation on the ground following an SPLM statement claiming their candidate had won. SPLM Candidate for State Governor, Malik Agar urged the Commission to speed up the process and announce the result in an effort to end tensions in the State. NCP Candidate for the area, Farah Agar said that his party paid no attention to Yasser Arman’s statement on the SPLM victory and said the final decision was for NEC to announce. Headlines on the Troika Joint Statement on the Sudan elections

US, UK and Norway indicted mistakes were made during the election. ( Akhbar Alyoum - pro-government newspaper )

US , UK and Norway Missions: ”Sudanese Election was peaceful and included good participation” . The Mission, however, raised concerns on logistic and administrative issues. ( Alahram - pro-government newspapers )

Local observers: “NEC failed to mange the election” A Local Observer Network called Tamam held a press conference yesterday in which they called for the electoral process to be reviewed and the result not accepted. They said that there was no neutrality during the process and most of the NEC staff were from NCP. Tamam also called for a national government involving all political parties to oversee a transition period in which the census result and demarcation process would be reviewed. ( Many Newspapers )

Juba Parties Alliance establishes 4 committees in response to current situation
The Juba Parties Alliance have formed an evaluation committee to assesses parties and individual candidate performance during the election. They also established 3 other committees to mobilise communities for peaceful demonstrations in all states. Head of the Alliance, Faruq Abu Assi said the alliance was set to contact civil society groups, the international community, and INGOs to discuss post election period and their views on it. Following is the text of a joint statement by the Sudan Troika (United States, United Kingdom, and Norway) on the recent elections in Sudan provided by the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section in Khartoum:

We acknowledge the conclusion on 15 April of Sudan’s first multi-party elections in twenty-four years. We commend the people of Sudan for their engagement in a complex and lengthy polling process, and their increased civic participation over recent months. Last month we collectively reiterated our call for peaceful, credible elections, and expressed our deep concern regarding reports of administrative and logistical challenges, as well as restrictions on political freedoms. Carter: “ the international community set to accept the election result”
In press conference yesterday, Director of the Carter Centre, Jimmy Carter revealed that the election did not meet the international standard, but the international community would accept its result. He also added that the election process was a step toward democratic change. Meanwhile, Head of the European Union Observer Mission in Sudan, Veronique de Keyser said that the election did not meet the international measure, but it was a good step on the CPA implementation. Sudan Elections: Initial Count of Votes in Kenya puts President Omar al-Bashir Ahead

K24TV reports that incumbent President Omar Ahmed Al-Bashir leads in the votes with 65 votes followed by the SPLM candidate Yasir Saeed Arman – who had already pulled out of the Presidential race – with 57 votes.

According to the Sudanese Ambassador to Kenya Majok Guoudong says that the election process was peacefull free and fair.

Opposition Parties hold meeting to discuss NCP proposal for a national government
The NCP said it would invite opposition parties to participate in a national government if they won the election. Presidential Advisor, Ghazi Salahuddin revealed to the press that the government had invited all opposition parties to participate in the elected government as the country was passing through an historical time. Leader of the National Umma Party Sadig al Mahdi said that his party had considered the NCP proposal in detail, saying that the situation was critical and he called for a peaceful solution through dialogue. Yasser Arman, however, criticised the proposal claiming the participation in an elected government based on an NCP programme would not resolve the country’s problems.
