Carter Centre “ counting process was lacking transparency”
Based on the Carter Centre report issued yesterday, American Observers doubted the counting process saying that it lacked transparency and it would seriously impact on the final result. The report also highlighted concerns over National Electoral Commission’s failure to meet the agreed standards of the information system and account the votes cast manually. Egypt confirm its support for the unity of Sudan
The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Head of Intelligence, Omer Suliman discussed with the elected president Omer Al-Bashir the referendum, conflict in Darfur and dispute between River Nile Basin countries. Speaking to press, Aboul Gheit affirmed that Sudan and Egypt have pledged to previous River Nile Basin agreement. He also said that his country would collaborate and engage in discussions to reach a comprehensive agreement with involved countries. Border Demarcation Committee set to finalise it’s work on November
The Head of the Borders Demarcation, Abdallah Al-sadig stated that the Committee is set to finalise it’s process by November and will submit it’s report to the presidential office for an approval before the referendum. Al-Bashir wins the election and has 68% of votes cast

The National Electoral Commission has announced Omer Al-Bashir as the winner for the presidential elections with Yasser Arman coming second with 21% from votes cast . Head of the National Electoral Commission , Abel Alier revealed that 10,114,310 votes were cast in total. Al-Bashir addressed a NCP rally yesterday saying that his party won the election but should prepare for the battle for unity. The elections result will be announced in the coming 48 hours
National Electoral Commission revealed that the final election result will be announced within 48 hours, subject to remaining information from the Equatorial and the Unity States, which was anticipated to finish soon. Head of the Technical Committee for NEC, Al Hadi Mohamed Ahmed said that the state committees were not authorize to announce the results. NEC : “election’s result will be announced after all the appeals are considered”
The National Electoral Commission revealed that 95% of the election results in North Sudan have been completed, but there were still some delays at legislative and executive levels in some states. Head of the Technical Committee for NEC, Al Hadi Mohamed Ahmed stated to the press that the result was expected to be finalised today. Pagn Amum on SPLM: Party has overcome internal disputes over the election
SPLM Secretary General, Pagan Amum revealed that his party held a political meeting in Juba yesterday to evaluate the election and discuss the current situation. He also told reporters that the SPLM had called upon the National Electoral Commission to stop any attempt at fraud and he criticised the military intention in Blue Nile State. Amumsaid that the SPLM had not discussed forming a new government or election results with the NCP. NEC reveal that counting has not yet finish in Blue Nile State
The National Electoral Commission has sent a delegation to the Blue Nile State to control the situation on the ground following an SPLM statement claiming their candidate had won. SPLM Candidate for State Governor, Malik Agar urged the Commission to speed up the process and announce the result in an effort to end tensions in the State. NCP Candidate for the area, Farah Agar said that his party paid no attention to Yasser Arman’s statement on the SPLM victory and said the final decision was for NEC to announce.
