Salva Kiir announces new proposal to strengthen unity
President of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir is set to meet with political figures and militias in the south to emphasise the important of the referendum. UN to facilitate discussions on the referendum and Abyei
Deng Alor Kuol representing the SPLM and Salah Gosh on behalf of the NCP signed an agreement for the federal government programme. The agreement allocates a budget for development in the south to build infrastructure and connect the area with the north. The deal also focuses on CPA implementation and the referendum which it makes clear will be carried out as planned. Luka Biong revealed to the press that the partners disagreed on the eligibility of voters who are set to participate in the referendum and the establishment of the Abyei Commission. Luka added that talks would continue in the hope of resolving these issues and agreeing on the remit of the planned Human Rights Commission. Khartoum informs UK on JEM violations action
Mutrif Sidig, Deputy Foreign Minister discussed with the British Ambassador in Khartoum, Dame Rosalind Marsden the trilateral mechanism on Sudan, which was held in Addis last week. Mutrif had acknowledged the ambassador’s role to improve the bilateral relation between UK and Sudan. The meeting also highlighted the situation in Darfur and recent violations carried by JEM in Darfur. Mutrif, however, stated that the government pledges peaceful solutions to the conflict in Darfur. Government Force controls the situation in Jabal Moon
The Spokesman for the Government Force Armed, Khalid Alsawarmi stated that his troops had controlled the situation in Jabel Moon west Dartur and killed 108 persons from the JEM group. Meanwhile, the government has sent military supplies to south Darfur after JEM attacked in the area. Speaking from Doha , Head of the government delegation to the talks Amin Hassan Omer accused JEM of escalating military action in Darfur and their rejection to UNAMID observations for the cease-fire in the area. Border Demarcation Committee set to finalise it’s work on November
The Head of the Borders Demarcation, Abdallah Al-sadig stated that the Committee is set to finalise it’s process by November and will submit it’s report to the presidential office for an approval before the referendum. AEC Plenary calls for referendum arrangements to be completed
Assessment and Evaluation Commission for the Comprehensive Peace Agreement held its meeting in Khartoum yesterday calling for consideration of the election appeals and to reach an agreement on the south/south Kordofan parliamentary seats . Head of the Commission, Sir Derek Plumbly acknowledged the peaceful process during the election, saying that there were many lessons learnt, which benefit the referendum. Al-Bashir wins the election and has 68% of votes cast

The National Electoral Commission has announced Omer Al-Bashir as the winner for the presidential elections with Yasser Arman coming second with 21% from votes cast . Head of the National Electoral Commission , Abel Alier revealed that 10,114,310 votes were cast in total. Al-Bashir addressed a NCP rally yesterday saying that his party won the election but should prepare for the battle for unity. Opposition Parties hold meeting to discuss NCP proposal for a national government
The NCP said it would invite opposition parties to participate in a national government if they won the election. Presidential Advisor, Ghazi Salahuddin revealed to the press that the government had invited all opposition parties to participate in the elected government as the country was passing through an historical time. Leader of the National Umma Party Sadig al Mahdi said that his party had considered the NCP proposal in detail, saying that the situation was critical and he called for a peaceful solution through dialogue. Yasser Arman, however, criticised the proposal claiming the participation in an elected government based on an NCP programme would not resolve the country’s problems. SPLM boycott elections in North Sudan

In a press conference yesterday, Pagan Amum revealed that the SPLM would boycott elections in 13 states in North Sudan due to violations of the law and fraud. Pagan said that fraud has reached a stage where it had become impossible to continue in the process. He added that the government had abused country resources for its campaign and were controlling the Electoral Commission.
